Hora de Equidad It stems from a profound Christian commitment to God, a commitment reflected in how we strive to live and act as Jesus Christ did. Throughout his ministry, Jesus challenged the social, religious, and cultural structures of his time, approaching with dignity and compassion those who were rejected, marginalized, or despised. He not only healed bodies but also restored dignity, uplifted the invisible, and embraced the most vulnerable with justice. We see this in his friendship with Lazarus, Martha, and Mary—whom he elevated to the inner circle of his relationships—especially recognizing women as interlocutors, disciples, and friends. We see this same equity in his encounter with Zacchaeus, the tax collector who honored the excluded, whom he honored with his presence; in the Samaritan woman, whom he entrusted with the proclamation of the gospel; and in Peter, restored from failure and sent to shepherd. In each of these stories, Jesus embodies a justice with a human face, one that breaks down barriers and dignifies lives.
This blog is inspired by that incarnate justice and seeks to delve deeper into God’s commitment to equity and social justice. But it doesn’t limit itself to a general overview: Time for Equity focuses especially on gender inequalities and their multiple expressions. We recognize that gender inequality is not an isolated phenomenon, but a structural reality that manifests itself in social inequalities, ecclesiastical discrimination, and multiple forms of abuse—at the family, community, legal, and spiritual levels.
From a critical yet hopeful Christian perspective, this space denounces the injustices faced by millions of women, girls, and boys around the world, both within and outside the church. At the same time, it is an invitation to reflect, pray, learn, and act. Time for Equity aspires to be a prophetic voice that promotes just relationships and inclusive structures, encouraging believers and churches to embody a faith consistent with the Kingdom of God: a Kingdom where justice and equity are signs of divine love in action.
May each reading inspire discernment and transformation. May our words and our lives reflect the character of a God who restores, liberates, and calls us to live in community with justice, truth, and compassion.
